Our future

One of the biggest downward pressures on artists is rental affordability. Artery is unique in the arts ecology because it has always aimed to use its collective financial power to establish secure foundations to avoid the vicious cycle of rental rises and evictions that constantly force cultural practices out of the communities they were established in.

Our plans

We are currently attempting to collectively purchase our entire premises. This includes:

︎︎︎ Finding an appropriate lender
︎︎︎ Locating a suitable building to purchase
︎︎︎ Financing the build / fit out of the new building

With the outright ownership of its premises in sight, this moment presents a very positive opportunity for Artery to achieve its original goal of self-determination, building the foundations upon which Melbourne’s current and future artistic communities may thrive into the future.
